The Karnataka-born, Mumbai-based shooter has been

time now. Her list of achievements is impressive. In
2006 she broke the world record by shooting a total
score of 500.9 (398 in qualifying and 102.9 in the
finals). In the 2002 Busan Asian Games, while Indian
shooters delivered a below par performance, Suma along
with Deepali Deshpande and Anjali Bhagwat helped India
to a superb silver against very stiff competition from
China, Korea and Japan. Earlier, in 2004 she equalled
the world record by shooting a perfect
400/400 in the
qualifying for the Asian Championship held at Kuala
Lumpur. She made her Olympic debut in the Athens Games
in 2004. When not jet setting across the globe to take
part in competitions, she can be found practising on
her electronic Sius Ascor shooting apparatus, which
she has set up near her house in Mumbai.
